So, if you’re like me, I’m always rushing in the morning to get ready for work and choosing my accessories is the last thing I do before leaving the house. Or maybe you’re planning for a big event and get stuck when choosing the right Jewelz to match the neckline with the blouse, sweater, shirt or dress. Well, I’m here to help!
Here is a cheat sheet on different types of necklines and the types of necklaces to wear.
Hope this helps!
- Square neck: A short choker necklace looks best.
- Round Neck: Your necklace should also be a round shape. Necklaces that lay flat on neck look best. DO NOT, and I repeat DO NOT wear a V-shaped necklace or one with a pointed pendant.
- V-Neck: Wear a necklace in a similar triangular V- shape that ends just above the neckline.
- Turtleneck: A longer chain style looks best.
- Scoop Necks: Wear a necklace that’s broad with layers and volume.
- Crew Neck: Collar necklaces look very stylish.
- Halter neck: A triangular neck piece with a pointy end.
- Buttoned down shirt: A V-Shape, sleek and elegant strand necklace.
- Buttoned up shirt: Any style works, long, short, BOLD, V-Shape, round. I personally like to pair this type of shirt with a short BOLD necklace or a with a pendant necklace to give an illusion of a brochure. Did you know you can take a long heavier chain necklace and make it into a choker? Simply wrap the clasped necklace around the neck with the clasp and pendant draped to the front. Loop the pendant in the open clasped side and pull up. ..a choked up pendant necklace!
- Strapless or Off-Shoulder: Be creative and show your style. I will say the BOLDER the BETTER!
- One Shoulder: A mid to long V-Shape necklace will work, but you can also go without a necklace and opt for a dramatic statement earring.
- Boat Neck: Go for a longer thin necklace or pair with pendant necklace that reaches just above your waist.
- Ballet Neck: Works best with a necklace that follows the same shape of the neckline.
- Cowl Neck: The cowl neck is the statement of your outfit, so necklace is not really needed. Instead go for pair of earrings that are medium- to large-scale to wear with a cowl neckline. If you must wear a necklace, I would choose a simple short pendant necklace.
- Plunging Neckline: If you want to accentuate the attention of your plunging neckline outfit and emphasize the look's sleek, long lines, go with a dramatic statement earring and solitaire necklace or a lariat (Y style) necklace. Both will provide the elegant elongating features that best suit the plunging neckline.
- Sweetheart Neck: A wide round necklace which covers the bare skin looks best.
